Good Friday morning. Today I’m sharing a fun die cut kite scene card made using the newly released Rubbernecker Kite paired with the Winter Tree, Cloud Trees, Grass, Grass #2, Picket Fence, Small Flowers #1, Small Birds and Nested Rectangle Scallops with Holes. I thought it would be fun to fill the sky space with the cartoony appearing tree with the big puffy cloud shapes. I was going to use more than one kite but somehow the tree took over. LOL!
The Scalloped Sly Background Layer
- Cut the scalloped rectangle using white cardstock.
- Mask off the scalloped edges using Eclipse masking tape.
- Apply a cloudy sky background using an ink blending tool, kite stencil and Tumbled Glass ink.
- Remove the mask, apply thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the layer and attach it to the card base.
The Grass, Fence, Tree and Flowers
- Cut the grass strip and grass pieces using green cardstock.
- Cut the fence using white cardstock.
- Cut the tree using Kraft cardstock and cloud tree using light and dark green cardstock.
- Apply Antique Linen ink to the tree by swiping the pad directly over the paper.
- Apply double stick tape to the back of the tree trunk and attach it to the scene base.
- Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the two fence sections and attach to the scene base.
- Attach the grass section in front of the fence sections using strips of mounting tape.
- Tuck several individual grass pieces in behind the grass section and attach with glossy accents.
Finish the Die Cut Kite Scene
- Cut the kite using red, aqua and yellow cardstock.
- Fill in the red kite outline frame using the aqua and yellow pieces and attach with double stick tape.
- Attach the red kite tail to the kite using glossy accents.
- Attach the kite and tail in the sky using pieces of mounting tape.
- Cut the birds and flowers using red cardstock.
- Form the flowers using a small tipped stylus and molding pad.
- Attach the flowers to the grass pieces using glossy accents.
- Attach tiny white Nuvo crystal drops in the flower centers using glossy accents.
- Finish the scene by attaching the flying birds in the sky area and in front of the tree using small pieces of mounting tape.
I had lots of fun creating this die cut kite scene card. I really love the masked off blue sky area that shows off the sky but still allows the white eyelets of the layer show well. Thank you for coming by today and I hope you have a great upcoming weekend.
